Cook Refuses to Thank Iraq Over Hijacking

LONDON British Foreign Secretary Robin Cook refused on Sunday to publicly thank Iraq for safely ending the hijack of a Saudi Arabian jet with many Britons on board.
As passengers waited to leave Baghdad at the end of their ordeal, Cook told reporters: "I would not thank any government for carrying out its clear international obligations." Britain was hampered during Saturday's hijack because London has had no diplomatic relations with Baghdad since the 1991 Persian Gulf War and had to rely on Russia for official information.
